The World of Marketing

In this modern technologically interactive age, it is imperative to adopt the modern ways of communication. I have always been a very expressive person and like my opinion to be heard. I adopted the mode of blogging for my views because of the ease of spread of information and the right target market. It is easier for me to write and interact with my readers because I can get feedback immediately and address their questions and queries. The journey wasn’t always easy for me because it took me time to find the right audience and develop my writing style but with time I was able to develop my niche and become successful in it.
Over my career as a blogger I have written about various social-economic issues, latest news, fashion and interior designing trend and many other topic. A new blog that I am starting is about importance of marketing in the modern world. Marketing is quite a developed subject with extensive protocols and countless books being written about it.
My blog essentially will explain to a layman about the purpose of various marketing techniques and various branches of marketing. The target market of the blog are students and the general population who are inquisitive about Marketing.
I came up with this idea because people like my father and uncles want to know about the subject eg. How it is used in the modern businesses, owners of small businesses who do not have a formal marketing department and the market skills can benefit from it and students who are looking to further their knowledge can definitely find relevant material on my blog. When I was working in the marketing department of a big multi-national firm, I came to the conclusion that all the general population should have the basic idea about the purpose of a marketing strategy and about the whole marketing process.
Essentially, marketing is about increasing the reach of a business by using techniques such as market research, branding, pricing and advertising. The “7 Ps of marketing”: product, price, promotion, place, packaging, positioning and people are considered the most important basis of a good marketing strategy.
I have worked for big firms (with properly established marketing departments) and small setups (with one-man marketing departments) and have come to the conclusion that Marketing is not a one man job but a team effort which requires proper work and strategy to be successful.

There are various steps involved in the formulization of a marketing strategy which are: market know-how, determination of the target market, competitor analysis, goal setting, strategy formulation, budgeting and last but not the least implementation.
A big department has the ability to divide the work involved among many people at a time which is less time consuming and more cost effective.
A small company can outsource the work to various marketing research companies who deliver quality work. various tips and tricks can be used for perfect implementation of a marketing plan like giving away free samples, collaborating with third party vendors and have blogs written about a product.
Marketing in my opinion has become more of an art in this modern socially active and informative age. The modes of advertising are changing vastly and so are the target markets because of the increase in the flow of information. Without an effective marketing plan, it is not possible for any business to increase their market share over the long-run, regardless of the quality of a product or service. With my blog I will try to educate my reader about the current trends in marketing, analysis of the marketing strategies of various companies and tips and tricks regarding the making of a marketing plan.
